How leggy will ‘Jurassic World 2’ be?
As of today, ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ has earned another $14.8 million on its fourth day of wide release, bringing its domestic cume to a reasonable $162.8 million. Universal’s flick dropped 63% from its $39 million Sunday bow. It’s a big drop and higher than 2015’s ‘Jurassic World’.
However, the movie should fly alone until ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ kicks in early July. The dinos are going to top $200 million this Thursday, so it might be soaring around $300 million domestically by the end of its third frame. Overseas, the movie holds a strong $575M-$580M for a global cume of around $740 million.
Projections suggested that the movie wouldn’t earn $400 million stateside and moreover wouldn’t be a leggy-summer-tentpole as usual, but it’s been holding quite enough. The pic will easily break the $1 billion mark. Maybe by the end of next week. Its domestic cume, however, is still a little foggy to predict.
If we take into consideration that only ‘Ant-man 2’ and ‘Mission Impossible’ will threat the dinos, the movie would have the rest of June and there’s some steam to blow in July in the U.S. Plus: Universal’s flick will probably dominate July 4th holiday.
‘Jurassic World 2’ has room and gas to be leggy enough to reach the $400 million figure domestically and (I’m guessing) around $1.1 B-$1.2B worldwide.
